TravelShield ("we", "our", "us") is committed to protecting and respecting your privacy. This policy explains how we collect, use, store, and protect your personal information when you use our mobile application and related services.

By using TravelShield, you agree to the collection and use of information in accordance with this policy.

We collect information you provide directly: your name, email address, phone number, and payment information when you create an account and subscribe to our services.

We collect location data: when you use TravelShield, we collect your real-time GPS coordinates. This data is essential to dispatch emergency responders to your exact location. Location data is only collected when the app is active or when you trigger an emergency alert.

We collect device information: device type, operating system, and app version to ensure compatibility and optimize performance.

Emergency response: Your location data is shared with our Command Center and dispatched responders only when you trigger an emergency alert or activate location sharing.

Service delivery: To provide and maintain our security, medical, and roadside assistance services across South Africa.

Communication: To send you service updates, safety alerts, and important notifications related to your account and coverage area.

Improvement: To analyze usage patterns and improve our response times, coverage, and overall service quality.

We share your location data with our vetted partner security companies and EMS providers only during active emergency dispatches. Partners are contractually bound to use this data solely for emergency response.

We do not sell, rent, or trade your personal information to third parties for marketing purposes.

We may disclose information when required by law, such as in response to a court order or legal process.

All SOS signals and location data are transmitted using end-to-end encryption. We employ industry-standard security measures to protect your personal information against unauthorized access, alteration, disclosure, or destruction.

Our systems are regularly audited and updated to maintain the highest levels of data protection.

We retain your personal data for as long as your account is active or as needed to provide services. After your subscription ends, personal data is retained for a maximum of 3 (three) years in line with the Consumer Protection Act, after which it is securely deleted.

Emergency incident records are retained for the period required by applicable South African law and for legitimate safety record-keeping purposes.

You may request deletion of your account and associated personal data at any time by contacting our Information Officer (see below).

In accordance with the Protection of Personal Information Act 4 of 2013 (POPIA) and other applicable laws, you have the right to: access your personal data held by us, request correction of inaccurate or incomplete data, request deletion of your data (subject to legal retention requirements), object to certain processing of your data, and data portability.
